“Ole Ole Ole……”

Albert Park Indoor Centre’s atmosphere and its surroundings is a little quieter than that of a Fiorentina – Juventus soccer match in Firenze but the enthusiasm and soccer spirit of I Girasoli on the courts is just as loud.

I Girasoli made their debut in June 2003 forming a mixed soccer team to have a fun social game on a Sunday afternoon. Starting in the last division we progressively made our way to top divisions. In our first season together we were runners up, we returned in our second season to make the finals again and unfortunately runners up once more.

Over the seasons there has been around 30 various skillful and enthusiastic people that have joined the I Girasoli team. With our black shorts, bright blue Toscana Club guernseys with il Giglio as our trade mark, any competitor would think we were playing in the World Cup!

The enthusiasm of the players and supporters is always encouraging the team to play hard even against the toughest competition. Although sometimes we encounter stronger teams and are beaten rather soundly we always come off the court having enjoyed the game. On behalf of everyone involved we would like to express our appreciation to La Regione for their financial support with the provision of guernseys, registration and insurance for the team.

All are welcome to come down and cheer the team on, they love a crowd!

This season went very fast and it was a great effort once again by I Girasoli!
I Girasoli had a few additions to its team, which was great to see new faces!
I Girasoli lost in the semi-finals to the team that beat them 18-1, 8-2 and 3-2 throughout the season, so a great effort to the Girasoli for a close game. Maybe next time the Girasoli are up for a win!!

Congratulations to I Girasoli mixed indoor team in making the semi-finals in their first Season. With the score 4-all after extra time, the Girasoli were defeated on penalties by the "Rug Rats". A valiant effort given that I Girasoli were defeated by this team 4-1 during the season.
