Wine Tasting
2007
Our Wine tasting was back again with a different flair! I Girasoli introduced Food Companies as well as Wine. We had 9 companies both wine and food and over 200 people were able to sample and buy their wonderful products. We would like to thank the exhibitors: La Campagna, La Cantina, Alepat Taylor, Prospect Wines, Somerset Crossing Winery, Kyneton Olive Oil, Enoteca Sileno, Pieroni Imports and Balconi for their great cooperation in our great event! As usual the women in the kitchen did great creating the best in Tuscan dishes to serve our guests.
We cannot wait for next years Sapori di Toscana!
2006
It was back again! Our infamous Wine Tasting extravaganza! On the 26th November about 130 people entered through the Toscana Social Clubs doors to exhibit a great collection of wine from six wineries and wholesalers where the owners are of Tuscan origin. Throughout the day there was foccacia as well as little Tuscan antipasti being served but the pasta fritta went like hot cakes! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and all our wineries were happy with how the day went.
We hope that you can all join us again next year!
2005
On 1 May 2005 I Girasoli were proud to present a showcase of wines produced in Victoria by Tuscan migrants and their descendants. The showcase featured the wineries Ceccanti Kiewa Valley Wines (Mongans Bridge), Galli Estate (Rockbank), La Campagna Winery (Boneo), La Cantina Vineyard (King Valley), La Terrazza Vineyard (Huntly) and Somerset Crossing Winery (Seymour).
Visitors to the club sampled and purchased wines from these wineries, in addition the Wine Merchant Alepat Taylor provided samples of imported Tuscan varieties such as Chianti and Vin Santo.Wine buffs could thus contrast the style of the wines made here in Australia to the Tuscan varieties.
To complement the many wonderful drops, the ladies of the Toscana Social Club provided traditional food such as Crostini and foccacia. All up a fiiting way to celebrate the achievements of the Tuscan winemakers here in Victoria. Salute!
2004
The popular and traditional wine tasting night was held in June. With over 90 people attended, 15 different Tuscan and Italian wines were put on show for tasting. Of course the wonderful women in the Toscana Club kitchen ensured that the wine was tasted with good food, such as traditional Tuscan nibblies of different Bruschettas and pizze were eagerly devoured. This night was a huge success, as it is every year, with mystery wine bottle prizes being awarded to tasters and wine being available for purchase on the night. Not only did many people experience the taste of wonderful Tuscan wine but many went home with a couple of bottles for later.
2003
The Tuscan Wine Tasting night took place at the Melbourne Toscana Social Club in May 2003. Wine connoisseurs from far and wide attended the night. There was a great range of imported Tuscan wines, Chianti and the new styled “Super Tuscans”. A $250 bottle of wine was awarded to the critic of the night after she guessed the “mystery wine”.
As always, our committee ladies put on a delicious spread of finger foods and the night proved to be a successful fundraiser. Special thanks to our sponsors Alepat Taylor - Wine, Spirits, Liqueurs & Harvest Liquor Carlton.
